Welcome to MathCounts at UGA

MathCounts Mission

MathCounts Outreach at UGA aims to support elementary, middle, and high school students in Athens-Clarke county in math and STEM disciplines. Our university-level tutors mentor young students in Athens to develop their academic skills, prepare for their futures, and grow as both students and individuals. These goals are achieved through weekly tutoring sessions and our yearly tournament in the spring.

Join our team if you want to give back to the Athens community, exercise your tutoring abilities, and work in an exciting and rewarding environment!
MathCounts motivated me to be confident and actively play a role in other children's education, and I did not realize how much I liked to teach at the whiteboard!

MathCounts Tournament

Every spring, MathCounts hosts a tournament where students can showcase their abilities and the hard work they put in throughout the year. Participating schools put together teams that compete against each other in a friendly tournament hosted by our tutors and head coaches.

Fall 2025 volunteer forms are now closed. Check back in December for volunteer opportunities in spring 2026!

It is amazing to see their progression just from a couple of tutoring sessions. MathCounts has helped me develop better communication and leadership skills. It has been one of my best experiences at UGA!
